We are working in partnership with Carers Trust and Welsh Government to again deliver the Carers Support fund – which offers both Support Services and financial hardship grants to carers. The grant is up to £300 and offered on a case-by-case basis dependant on circumstances.
Eligibility:
Must be a carer, resident in Swansea
(if you are new to us, you will be asked to provide additional information regarding your caring role)
Must be able to demonstrate financial hardship
Individuals can only have one grant a year. If you have had a hardship grant in the last 12 months you will not be eligible.
It is not an automatic entitlement. If you have had it before it will not be guaranteed that you will get it again as new eligible applicants will be prioritised.
You can apply via the application form on the Swansea Carers Centre website. If you are unable to access the form, you can call Swansea Carers Centre (01792 653344) between 9am and 8pm, where you will be placed on a contact list to be contacted to complete the form over the phone by one of the grant team.
The funder requires us to collect certain equality data including age, gender, ethnicity, and sexuality. This information is shared with funder but is anonymised. We will not share names or contact details. Please see our privacy policy on our website.
The amount of grants available each month is capped which will restrict how many grants we can issue per month. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by email.
The vouchers available this year are Tesco, Asda, Argos, and Currys. The vouchers are e-vouchers and will be emailed to you. If you have no email, we can provide plastic gift cards, but this will create a delay in the issuing of vouchers or send you a printout of your voucher.
All grant applications will be reviewed by a panel and we aim to inform you of the outcome of your application within 2 weeks of receiving your application – it may be longer if we receive high numbers of applications
In the application please provide as much information as possible with regards to your caring situation and how this has impacted on your financial situation. Just saying ‘cost of living’ will not be enough to demonstrate eligibility.
