Young Adult Carers (YAC’s) are those aged 16-25 who provide help or care to a relative, family member, or friend. They might care for someone with a disability, a long-term health issue, mental health problems, or drug or alcohol dependency.
A YAC’s help can include personal care, giving medication, doing chores, or providing emotional support. Each YAC’s role is different, and they don’t have to live with the person they care for.
The Young Adult Carers project offers:
1-2-1 holistic and tailored support (face to face, over the phone or online)
Trips, activities and opportunities
It gives them a chance to meet with others of a similar situation, opportunity to learn new things, and most importantly to give them a well-deserved break from their caring roles.
We also raise awareness in sixth form schools, colleges and universities and support young adult carers in their education and training, and with job searches. We can help with applications, CVs and provide support in finding courses, apprenticeships and training opportunities.
